I
live on beautiful Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest with my
husband and dog, Skippy. We moved here after my husband took early
retirement. For over 10 years before that I had my own computer
consulting company, Marcia's Computer Services. I worked with
individuals and small businesses who needed help purchasing a
computer and software and setting it all up, and in many cases I
maintained their systems afterwards. I closed my business when we
moved to the island. We have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren
and we're blessed to have them all living within an hour and a half
from us.
I've
had a family website for about 7 years. It's mostly photos so
family all over the world can keep up with the growing children,
holidays, birthdays, and other family events. To protect the
children the site is password protected, but here is an example
of one of the pages. The page header has been removed to protect
the family's privacy as it contains our name and family crest.
We
joined Whidbey Presbyterian Church
and soon afterwards the pastor asked me if I'd like to become the
webmaster for the church web site. Since I'd enjoyed working with
my own site and wanted to learn more, the choice was easy. Over the
past 3 years the site has evolved from a rather "plain Jane" site
into what it is today - a welcoming site full of information for
both visitors and members.
Recently
friends who own their own business, CitruSolution Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning,
asked me if I'd do some remodeling on their business site. When I
was finished they liked it so well that they encouraged me to begin
doing this professionally. It's something I've thought about for a
number of years so I decided to make a leap of faith and do it.
